Cleaning & restoring
While the car is at the fabricators I Stripped, cleaned, painted & put back together the rear sub frame, hubs, swing arms, front drive shafts, hubs & suspension arms.
Part of the rear sub frame project was to replace the suspension cones with springs and new shocks. I also continued to clean up some engine components and add them to the engine so it will be ready to bolt into the front sub frame. I am hoping to lift the sub frame and engine all complete into the mini from underneath.

Also painted the fuel tank which was supplied with the half cut as it has the fuel pump in the tank unlike the my original tank which suited the carby. considering you see it when you open the boot I thought it was worth doing. looks heaps better.
I sent the cylinder head to get bigger inlet valves and ported to assist with breathing and hopefully increase the power. While the head was getting done I had the big job of cleaning the bottom end of the engine and getting it ready for paint.
Once I painted the engine I then painted the parts that attach to the block, including oil breathers, starter motor, oil filter head & pipe, dizzy, radiator, fan shroud, water pump, timing cover before putting it back together.
On the 23rd October I decided to get another guys to look at the car to see if he can take the job on as I was told it may be a few more weeks before they could start it. I could see that it was never going to get done. The car will be removed from this place and delivered to another guys workshop on Thursday the 28th October. The new guy will be doing the job from home after hours and on weekends and will start it Friday and get it finished for me to pick up either on the 21st November or at the latest the 28th. I am hoping it works out that way so i can get it bead blasted and painted by Christmas.
Went over to see how the shell was coming along on the morning of Melbourne Cup Day. The sound deadening has been removed from the front floor pans and the spot welds drilled so they were ready to be cut out. Some small tabs had been replaced on the front firewall where the spot welds had been drilled out to remove the inner guards. I can see some progress which is much better that before.
Continued cleaning and painting some of the components in the engine bay like the A/C hoses, Clutch master & slave cylinder. Also painted the petrol tank strap and the two bars that hold the front seats down. now working on the brake booster & master cylinder. should have this done by tomorrow the 5th Nov.
