2010 Subaru WRX - Donor Vehicle
Learning from experience, I spent a lot of time at the self serve wreckers sourcing small brackets, bolts and parts for the VTEC mini. To avoid that again I purchased a competed donor car.
The 2010 MY11 Subaru Impreza WRX was a statutory write off due to hail damage on nearly all panels. I found it interesting that hail had damaged all 4 doors up high and low and how the damage looked very much like a hammer had hit it....... nothing like a dodgy write off..
Anyway, that was a bonus for me. The car had 100,300kms on it with not one modification. Not even a change of exhaust. It drove perfectly and gave me a smile to hear the boxer again.
Motor - EJ25 (2.5L) with 195Kw of power at the flywheel as per the manufacturers specs.
Gearbox - 5 speed manual
I got on with stripping it down and selling as many parts as possible leaving me with pretty much a shell and 90% of my money back. That makes for a cheap engine and running gear. I also get all the brackets, hoses, bolts and other parts I need for the project without having to go to the wreckers.
