1988 Rover mini Project

I have always wanted a Mini to play with so back in April 2010 I purchased my 1988 Rover mini from a guy in Perth. It was a Japanese import and had been re sprayed recently before I purchased. usually when a Mini has been re sprayed it usually means 1 of two things in my opinion. 1. it has been restored or 2. it is hiding a heap of rust.
I had a friend inspect it for me while he was over there as I lived in Melbourne. It seemed to be in good condition so I flew over to Perth to purchase it, stick it on a truck and send it back to Melbourne.

Details of the vehicle -
Make - Rover
Model - Mini
Year - 1988
Engine - 998cc with single Carby
Trans - Auto
other specs - 12" alloys, CD player, white roof, A/C,, black & red interior, leather wrapped steering wheel

My plans for the vehicle was to originally just change the engine to a 1275 Manual but it went from that into a full restoration project as you will see in the following pages.

Below is what I started with.
